Tucker is a 66-pound, 5-year-old black flat-coated retriever. He was found as a stray in the reserve behind the Sterling Hills community in Spring Hill. Tucker is participating in the Heel to Heal program at Hernando County Women's Correctional Facility, working with trusties and trainer John Gore from New Sentry K9 Services to graduate with good citizenship and proficiency in 40 commands. Tucker is neutered, micro-chipped and current on all vaccinations. Inquiries about adopting Tucker or other dogs and cats can be made at Hernando County Animal Services, 19450 Oliver St., Brooksville. Visiting hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Adoption fees are $50 for adult dogs over 25 pounds, $70 for puppies and small dogs under 25 pounds, $25 for heart worm positive and senior dogs, $20 for adult cats and $40 for kittens.
