    Doug Hughes, the former mail carrier who landed his gyrocopter on the west lawn of the U.S. Capital to protest big money in politics, finally achieved what he set out to do two years ago.

    Activist Doug Hughes, right, delivers his protest letters to Congress the old fashioned way, by taking them to the Riverview Post Office, Wednesday, April 12, 2017.  Two years ago he had the letters strapped to the wheels of a gyrocopter and landed them on the west lawn of the U.S. Capital before being quickly arrested.  He marked the anniversary of his flight by mailing the protest letters, with stamps, by hand.

In this photo, purple globes throw soft light over garden at night, matching color of lily blossoms.  Marble stairway leads from middle terrace to pool on bottom level.
