    INDIANAPOLIS — IndyCar driver Sebastien Bourdais is recovering from pelvis surgery after his car slammed into a barrier, and he is expected to miss the rest of the season.

    On Saturday, Tampa NASCAR driver Aric Almirola's No. 43 Ford twisted into a fiery contortion in a horrifying crash at the Go Bowling 400 in Kansas. He was cut out of the car and airlifted to the University of Kansas Medical Center. His team said Sunday that Almirola fractured his T5 vertebra.

    Ever since she joined NASCAR six seasons ago, I've pulled for her to win. Partly because it would be great for the sport and partly to shut up the chauvinists who still don't believe a woman should be driving with men.
