Top things to do this week: Monster Jam, comic Nikki Glaser, Totally '80s movie series, National Geographic Live

BIG WHEELS: Monster Jam

Just when lesser cars thought it was safe, Monster Jam returns Saturday to Raymond James Stadium to run the specially built track. This family-friendly show is so popular, the trucks will be back on Feb. 3 for another battle. Come early to tailgate and get pictures with the trucks and drivers in the Party in the Pits. The enormous trucks will go through the paces in Freestyle, a judged competition of stunts; 2-Wheel Skills, in which at least two wheels are in the air for stunts; and a race along a prescribed course. 7 p.m. 4201 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. $15-$185. monsterjam.com.

TALK DIRTY: Nikki Glaser

The go-to comic if you like dirty jokes, Nikki Glaser was the creator and star of the Comedy Central series Not Safe With Nikki Glaser, a comic talk show that featured segments on orgasms, porn, male enhancement pills and a perfectly titled feature called "tackling tough issues while holding a puppy." Expect a lot of smart talk and wicked one-liners ("There's a lot I want to do before I have kids. Like die.") She takes the stage Friday through Sunday at the Improv Comedy Theater, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $25. (813) 864-4000. improvtampa.com.

TOTALLY '80s: Bueller? . . . Bueller?

To kick off the Totally '80s Classic Movies series at the Tampa Theatre, organizers added a special screening that requires you to sneak out of work to make the 4 p.m. Friday showing of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Doors and bar open at 3 p.m., giving you plenty of opportunity to see the newly restored historic movie palace and take advantage of happy hour drink specials. A wise man once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." If you can't fake a note to the boss about a meeting with Abe Froman, the sausage king of Chicago, the theater will also be screening 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High at 3 p.m. Sunday. 711 Franklin St., Tampa. $10, $7 members. (813) 274-8982. tampatheatre.org.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC LIVE: Terry Virts

The speaker series National Geographic Live will bring NASA astronaut Terry Virts, who will share images of Earth taken from his seat on the International Space Station. 7 p.m. Tuesday. Ferguson Hall at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N MacInnes Place, Tampa. $20-$35. (813) 229-7827. strazcenter.org.

SPRING HILL — History calls it a "skirmish" that included 240 Union soldiers who pillaged through Hernando County in July 1864, destroying farmland and homes. The past six months have been kind to Dunedin's 7venth Sun Brewery. I don't consider myself "old" — though I have gotten into a bad habit of informing door people insistent on checking my ID that I'm halfway to 70. But I'm frequently made aware of how far removed my lifestyle is from that of my 20s.

    ST. PETERSBURG

An air compressor did most of the talking as the small crew stapled down flooring to the stage. A master carpenter kept unskilled but eager workers on track, telling them where to line up edges. An astringent smell of glue permeated the set of A Raisin in the Sun, opening Jan. 26 at American …
